Virtual Meeting Etiquette

Online meetings go hand and hand with remote working and therefore we must expect the same level of professional etiquette as in a traditional conference room.

To ensure successful and seamless virtual meetings there are a few key principals to follow:

  1. Test your equipment prior to the meeting to avoid software and hardware delays.

  2. Ensure you are in a well-lit room and arrive prepared 5-10 minutes early.

  3. Be aware of your background surroundings where external factors won’t interfere with video screen sharing.

  4. Dress properly as you would in a face-to-face meeting.

  5. When you are not talking always mute the microphone. This should be checked often throughout the meeting.

  6. Give the speaker your full attention by not multitasking.

And finally, above all else – behave as you would in person!
